Happy Tails

So, it’s been 2 months since mill momma Daisy joined our home. The picture below is of her new life with her now best bud, AABR Aries.

Daisy is learning so many new things and she brings such joy to our lives. Daisy is still very nervous in new situations, which everything is, and needs to takes things slowly. She has a difficult time calming down if over excited. We’ve had a few scrapes between Daisy and Aries, but I think that is because Aries doesn’t hear her cues.  He’s deaf.  We are now much more aware that she sometimes gives a look, and we understand that something is up.  We now have rules and boundaries set up for both of them, to give Aries some help if he is not looking at her.  For instance, each dog has a place to stay when we are eating, and it has made a big difference.  We’re all learning.

Now for the positives. Daisy now goes up and down the stairs with no problem. She has also learned that our bed is very comfortable, but that she needs to wait for an invitation to come up.  She used to think Aries should stay off if I was in the bed… but making an “invite” the rule worked.  After the “invites”20160717_142107 they both think that the best place to wait for mom to come out of the shower is my bed!

Daisy loves to ride in the car and helped us move my daughter to Buffalo. It was a long but good trip for all.  And now Daisy goes in and out of both doors in the house without coaxing.  She still needed to be coaxed into my son’s house on a recent visit, but once in, Daisy loves my grandsons! She has no anxiety around them at all.  With adults, she is a little more nervous.

We had another first yesterday. There are many firsts for mill dogs. This was sharing morning hugs with my husband with Aries at the same time, with a wiggly butt! I almost cried! Then there are other really funny things, like in the car, she was sitting on top of Aries because he was lying down and hogging the whole seat. And Daisy loves her babies… anything that is soft and fuzzy!

Thank you for all you do! Lots of Love and Wiggle Butts, Kate, Paul, Aries and Daisy

Daisy is adjusting well to indoor living and is loving the attention.  She gets along great with other dogs and children.  Daisy is not as fearful as some of the other mill dogs that have been in our foster home. She is looking for a home with a male dog to show her all the things she has missed out on.  Daisy would also love a fenced yard.  Apply today if you are interested in adopting this beautiful girl!

6/05/16 -

Daisy is a 6 yr old girl who has just arrived with AABR from a puppy mill.  She is currently at the vet, where she will be spayed and brought up to date.  Daisy will then be arriving at her new foster home.  She is good with other dogs and had no reaction to the cats at the vet's office.  We will update her page once her foster mom gets to know Daisy better.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: Please see our adoption info by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
