Brandy is a very smart girl who has been doing well with her verbal commands.  She loves to play and run outside, so would do best in a home with a fenced yard.  Brandy still takes a little time to warm up to strangers, but once she feels safe - she is a most loyal friend and loves to give kisses.  Brandy is crate trained during the day, but at night she loves to snuggle on the couch or sleep on her dog bed in the bedroom (occasionally trying to sneak up on her human's bed for a snuggle!).  Brandy recently had her heartworm test repeated and I am happy to report that she is now heartworm negative.  She will need a family that is willing to continue to work with her trust issues, but Brandy is worth every bit of effort!

3/28/15

Brandy loves the outdoors and for a girl from South Carolina, she can't get enough of the snow!  Her favorite things to do are playing with her foster brother and eating.  She is in great shape and would do well in a home with a large backyard where she can run laps.  Brandy is a very sweet and gentle girl who needs slow introductions.  Once she has gotten the chance to get to know people, she will bond well with them.  Apply today if you are interested in adopting Brandy and giving her the forever home she has been waiting for!

2/21/15

Brandy continues to do great in foster.  She still needs slow introductions to strangers, but after five minutes she is usually giving them her special greeting - which consists of tucking her head and nuzzling them.  Brandy loves to lay by the fire after romping in the snow.  She is a very playful, happy dog with the sweetest eyes I have ever seen.  Please give Brandy the forever home she deserves and apply to adopt her today!

Brandy is doing well in her foster home.  She completed her heartworm treatment and Brandy is ready for her forever home.  Brandy loves to play in the backyard and is a very loyal girl to her humans.  She is doing well with her foster siblings and loves nothing more than laying on the couch with either her foster mom or foster siblings.  Her foster mom reports, "We had company over for the holidays and while it takes a little time for Brandy to get used to new people - once she trusts you, you've got a friend for life."  Brandy is looking for a forever home that will understand that she will need time when meeting new people and be willing to work with her.  Please apply today to adopt Brandy!

9/27/14

Brandy has settled in at her foster home and is the sweetest girl.  She loves to go for walks and to play with her Pug foster brother, Smedley.  Brandy is a typical boxer who greets you with boxer wiggles and does "burns" in the backyard.  Brandy is doing well with her crate.  There is nothing she enjoys more than a good snuggle with her humans.  Brandy will be starting her heartworm treatment shortly and would love a home to call her own.

9/07/14

Brandy arrived in New York yesterday and went into her new foster home. Her foster mom said, "Brandy is a good girl. She is a typical curious boxer and good on the leash, but skittish when cars go by. Brandy does needs slower introductions to men, but once comfortable she does warm up."

Once Brandy settles into her foster home, she will start her heartworm treatment. This young girl has had rough life so far but things are looking up for a great future. Please consider giving Brandy the wonderful forever home she deserves, apply to adopt today!

8/11/14 -

Brandy was found as a stray by animal control and taken to the shelter.  She is estimated to be 1-2 years of age.  Brandy came down with kennel cough and started losing weight at the shelter.  They gave her only one day to find rescue and AABR quickly stepped in to help.

Brandy is in a temporary foster home in South Carolina and will be transported to New York this weekend.  Her foster said Brandy was clearly a family dog.  She is housetrained and has not been destructive when left home alone.  Brandy is a very sweet girl.  She loves people and other dogs.  Brandy will need a foster home when she arrives in New York.  Please consider fostering or adopting Brandy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
