10/20/15 - Forever Foster

Precious will be remaining at her home as a "forever foster."  She has Spina Bifida and limited use of her rear legs.  She uses a cart outside.  Precious has adjusted well and is an amazing girl!  If you are interested in helping Precious, please consider donating towards her care!

Precious is still looking for her forever home.  She is a super sweet girl!!  Precious loves to play with her foster brother and sister.  We will post a video soon of her playing in the snow!

Precious is still waiting for her forever family.  As a result of Spina Bifida, Precious has limited use of her rear legs.  She also needs to wear diapers.  Precious will use a cart for walks, but does not typically use the cart inside the house.  She is amazingly resilient and is a very sweet girl.  Precious loves to play with the other dogs.  She would do best in a home without a lot of stairs.  If you are interested in Precious, apply today!

Precious is doing well. She is a super sweet girl. Precious loves to play with her foster brothers and sister. She recently got a set of wheels. Although she gets around on her own (even up and down the stairs, which is a bit frightening to watch!), she drags her left rear leg, kind of hopping with her right rear leg doing all the work. The cart will hopefully help get her into a correct walking stance and allow her to go for longer walks with her foster siblings. She has come a long way since first arriving with AABR.

Precious saw the neurologist on May 9th and he suspected that she has Spina Bifida, which is a birth defect in which the bones of the spine (vertebrae) do not form properly around the spinal cord. Precious had surgery the following day and is now back home with her foster mom. We do not know if or how much she will improve yet. The hopes are that the surgery will increase her mobility and improve her urinary incontinence. Thank you to everyone for continuing to support Precious!

5/8/13 -

Precious is a five month old girl who has no use of her back legs. She showed up in someone's yard and AABR was contacted to help.  We are getting tests done to see if we can determine the cause of her paralysis. Precious will need to be seen by a Neurologist and will most likely need an MRI, all of which is very expensive.

We need your help!! Watch Precious' video and if you can help financially, PLEASE consider making a donation -even $1.00 will help. We'll update her page as we have more information.

Donations can be made by credit card to, directly on Pay Pal, or a check via our Post Office Box (Adopt A Boxer Rescue, PO BOX 270551 West Hartford, CT 06127).

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
