4/30/15 - MEMORIAL

Lumi was adopted on January 18th, taking the name Frankie.  She immediately made a loving impact on our family that included a fur brother rescue named Louie.  Frankie was quick to back up her companion, Louie, with her presence in the window whenever we departed and arrived home.  We loved spoiling her with free roam of the house and yard, and all the love and affection she could accept.  Frankie loved roaming the backyard, greeting all the neighborhood families, and being a loving companion for her work-from-home human Dad.  To say she was a loving, sweet lap dog would be an understatement and we LOVED her for that special quality.

Our hearts are deep with sorrow since Frankie entered eternal rest at the Rainbow Bridge after only four short months in our lives.  Frankie battled pre-rescue chronic conditions that included arthritis throughout her spine and a severe heart infection.  We miss her presence everyday and will for a long time.  However, we take comfort in knowing that her life improved when she became part of the AABR family that includes such a wonderful network of Boxer lovers, especially her foster Mom.

We miss you, Frankie.  Play free at the Rainbow Bridge.  Your sweet, gentle soul is loved by so many.

Lumi had the chance to attend her first adoption event.  She was wonderful with all the new people she met!  She is a huge cuddler and has the sweetest disposition.  Apply today if you are interested in bringing Lumi into your family.

We have added some new pictures of Lumi in her foster home. She couldn't be any sweeter and is ready for a forever family of her own!

Lumi is doing great in her foster home.  She is gaining weight and is starting to show some boxer wiggles.  Lumi gets along well with all the other dogs in her foster home and is completely housebroken.  She absolutely loves children.  Lumi walks well on leash and is a very gentle, easygoing girl.  She does not jump up and wants nothing more than to be close to her people and get attention.  Apply today to adopt this wonderful girl.

12/29/14

Lumi is settling in well at her foster home and is healing well.  She is a super sweet girl who just wants to snuggle by your side.

12/17/14

Lumi has arrived in rescue.  Our vet determined that she was pregnant and just a few weeks from delivering, but unfortunately Lumi miscarried today and had to have an emergency C-section and spay.  Lumi is recovering from surgery and will be arriving soon at her temporary foster home.  The staff at the vet's office indicate that Lumi is the sweetest girl with such a gentle disposition.  We will update her page once Lumi gets settled in and we learn more about her.  Lumi has had a rough life, but we want to show her soon what it is like to be treated well with a loving family.  Apply today if you are interested in fostering or adopting this beautiful girl.

12/10/14 -

Lumi was surrendered to the shelter by her owners.  She came to the shelter with a male dog, who she did well with.  Lumi has just arrived at her temporary foster home and will be transported to AABR this weekend.  We will update her page soon with better pictures and more information about her.  Lumi seems to be an easygoing, adult girl.  She will need a foster home once she arrives in Maryland.  Apply today to help this beautiful girl!

Prior to adoption

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
