Bo is doing very well and seems to be a happy, outgoing boy.  He loves to play with his tennis balls and soccer balls, although he has torn many of them up!  He will sometimes play fetch with you, but he also likes to engage in tug-of-war with his toys.  Bo is a cuddler and seems to prefer the company of people over the other dogs, although he does snuggle up with his foster sister frequently as well.

Bo listens well and is very active for his age.  He is confident in the house and rolls on his back often for belly rubs.  Bo would love a large fenced yard to run in.  He has been very well behaved with any visitors at his foster home.  Bo has quickly figured out the dog door and comes in and out all day long.  If you are interested in adopting Bo, submit your application today for this wonderful senior boy!

Bo is a very active boy, so don't let his age or the gray in his mask fool you!  He loves to play tug of war with his toys.  Bo's favorite toy seems to be the soccer ball, although he likes the stuffed toys also.  Bo loves to snuggle and is a very affectionate boy. He is well behaved at feeding time and will wait for the other dogs to finish before checking out everybody's empty bowls.  Bo listens very well and knows his basic commands.  He has also figured out the dog door at his foster home.

Bo is doing great with the three other boxers in his foster home.  He walks well on leash and travels with no problems.  His behavior at the vet's office was excellent!  Included are some new photos of Bo with his foster brother.

9/22/14 -

Bo and his brother, Chocko, were purchased as puppies together.  One of their owners passed away five months ago and they found themselves at the shelter for a few days.  The other owner decided after four days to bring them back home because it was too quiet without them.  This owner is now relocating to a place that does not allow pets, so Bo and Chocko have once again found themselves without a home and at the shelter.

These senior boys were very stressed in the shelter environment and AABR was asked if we could take them quickly.  We were able to find a foster home with other dogs for each boy to go to.  Bo arrived at his new foster home this evening.

Bo is reported by his previous owner to be good with other dogs and children of all ages.  He did great with his evaluation at the shelter with another dog. Bo is completely housebroken and used to being left alone during the day.  We will update Bo's page once he settles into his foster home and we learn more about him.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
