Martina (aka Marney) has arrived at her foster home and is doing great.  She may have been thrown away by her previous owners, but she is certainly one in a million.  Martina is the absolute best snuggler and would prefer to be on your lap (anyone's lap) as much as possible.  She loves to spend time with her people and has settled into her foster home just fine.  Martina gets along with all of the other furry foster siblings, both male and female, small medium and large.  She does great on the leash and is pretty much housebroken.

Martina was diagnosed with Cushings, but the medications have it under control.  The Cushings should not impact her quality of life and Martina will need to be on daily medication.

It is hard to believe that a dog that was left in a box, used as a breeder, and then thrown away could be so sweet and forgiving. Martina has the deepest brown eyes that just force you to give her kisses or a pat when she looks at you.  This girl still has a lot of life in her.  She would be great for somebody looking for a companion.  Martina doesn't need a lot of exercise and is happy to snuggle on the couch with you.  Please consider giving Martina the forever home she deserves!

5/9/14

Martina has been diagnosed with Cushing's Disease and will be arriving at her new foster home tomorrow.  Martina's foster mom will be working with our vet to help regulate the medication to try to help her.  Martina is in need of donations towards her care.  She has not lived a good life prior to rescue, and we are doing everything we can to change that for her.  We will update Martina's page once her foster mom gets to know her better.

5/4/14 -

Martina is a sweet boxer girl who was surrendered to the shelter because her owner indicated he didn't need her anymore.  She came into the shelter with a small terrier female.  Martina had been tied to a box and is in rough shape.  Despite her previous living conditions, she loves people and just wants attention.  Martina will be visiting our vet tomorrow and then will be looking for a foster home.  We will post more information once we learn more about Martina.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
