Ace is recovering from his neuter surgery.  He has only been in his foster home for a little over a week, so his foster mom is still getting to know his personality.  However, from the information she sent us, you can tell she is already in love with him!

Ace has been fabulous!  He was cautious when he arrived.  By the second evening, his tail began to wag and he was seeking affection.  Now he is a total love bug.  Ace fits into the household perfectly and walks nicely on his leash next to his foster sister (a boxer mix).  Ace has even joined the family for two Little League games and was the perfect spectator.  He greets people and other dogs with a wag of his tail, but does not jump or pull.  Ace is still a little nervous with car rides, but with each trip he is getting better.

Other than helping Ace be more comfortable with riding in the car, his foster mom is also working with him on some mild resource guarding behaviors.  For the most part, he has been okay with food and toys, but he does tend to get possessive over his humans.  In these cases, he is easily corrected and removed from the situation.

Although Ace may have some hearing limitations, he does hear well enough to respond to commands such as "sit" and "wait," even when he is not looking at you.  Ace is crate trained and has been given limited run of the house with no problems.  When he has his sutures removed later this week, his foster mom plans on giving him more freedom while she is gone during the day.  He will also get more play time with his foster sister and a few of the neighbor's dogs.  Ace has met and joined several of the dogs on his daily walks.  While he loves them all, he has really enjoyed playing with the smaller dogs.

Ace has now been neutered and he just arrived at his new foster home.  He is a very mellow boy and is settling in well.  We will post a new update as soon as his foster mom learns more about Ace.

4/21/14

Ace was transported into rescue this weekend and is currently at our kennel waiting for a foster or forever home.  He does seem to be able to hear, as he sat on command and responded when you spoke to him.  Ace may have some difficulty orienting to where the sounds are coming from and he may not hear all tones.  We will be able to get more information about him once he finds a foster home.  Ace was unsure of all the changes going on in his life and was a little nervous in the car.  He does the best boxer lean and loves to be close to people.  Apply today for this handsome boy!

4/12/14 -

Ace was surrendered to the shelter with several other dogs due to a condemned home.  He is in good shape, despite his previous living conditions.  Ace did well on his temperament testing at the shelter, although he does protect his food at this time.  The shelter suspects he may be deaf, which will be evaluated once he joins rescue.  Ace is already neutered, but will be brought up to date on all other vet care.  We will post more information soon once we get to know Ace better.  Apply today if you are interested in fostering or adopting this handsome boy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 3 months to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Not every home is the right match for a boxer, and matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us at your home visit of other dogs you are interested...  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
