It is hard to believe that Barbie has been in her foster home for almost a month already!  She is doing really well and we have seen positive changes in her temperament.  Barbie acts like a typical one year old boxer.  She is full of life and energy!  Barbie is all about playing and finally discovered how awesome toys are.  She has become part of the pack with the resident dogs and is respectful of them.

Barbie has met a few new people who have come into our home, and she has done well.  She will make a wonderful companion and loves being around her people.  Barbie needs continued love, training, and discipline so she can continue to blossom into the wonderful girl we know she can be.

Barbie has been settling into her foster home.  She was spayed and vetted, and is being treated for Lyme after testing positive.  In her foster home, she is getting along well with the other resident dogs.  We have found that Barbie does have anxiety with meeting new people and dogs.  She is protective of herself, so she needs somebody who can train her out of her ways.  Barbie absolutely loves treats and is very food motivated to learn.  Barbie would benefit from an experienced home with good canine leadership skills that is willing to seek the assistance of a trainer, if needed, to help Barbie through her social issues.

1/28/14 -

Barbie was an owner surrender because the family was moving and could no longer afford to keep her.  Barbie is just settling in at her new foster home and is adjusting well to her environment.  This pretty, young girl is still just a puppy - she seems to be a typical playful boxer outside (even in the snow!), but is pretty calm inside the house.  Barbie is very social with humans and interacts well with the resident dogs.  She is housebroken and crate trained.  Barbie knows the command sit, but would benefit from a family willing to spend time training her further and teaching her how great life can be.  Check back for updates and apply today to make Barbie a part of your pack!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
