Sadie Mae continues to do great in her foster home. She is a silly girl who loves to play and snuggle.  Sadie Mae is not using a crate at all and is trusted with free run of the house when alone.  She usually uses this time to nap on the bed.  Sadie Mae is a super sweet girl who loves all people.  She walks nicely on her harness, but does get excited when passing other people, dogs, or squirrels.  She is learning how to nicely pass others and is doing great with waiting and not pulling. She is around two other dogs most days and is still wishing they would play with her.

Sadie Mae was recently seen at a dermatologist due to flaky skin.  She was diagnosed with a keratinization defect, which means her body produces excess keratin.  This is a cosmetic problem that is very manageable and will not affect her qualify of life.  Treatment requires a spray to be applied twice a week.  She would make a great addition to any home.

Sadie Mae spent the weekend at a temporary home while her foster mom was out of town.  She got the chance to be with two young children, ages 10 months and 3 years.  Sadie did wonderful with the kids and gave them nothing but kisses.  She was also spayed this past week, so is ready to start a new adventure at her forever home.  Whoever adopts Sadie Mae is getting a wonderful, young girl!

Sadie Mae is doing great in her foster home.  She had no problems adjusting at all.  Sadie Mae is fully house trained and crate trained.  She can also be trusted to be free in the house.  So far, we have done an hour or so at a time and she has been fine.  Sadie might not look like your average boxer with her tail and her petite little face, but just spend a few minutes with her and you will see typical boxer behavior!   She is full of kisses, is a lot of fun, and loves snuggling.   Sadie can usually be found playing and boxing.  Her favorite sparring partner is any vacuum cleaner!

Sadie Mae walks on a harness as she can get excited when she sees other dogs or squirrels, but we are working on her pulling.  She is around 2 yellow labs at work and just wants to play with them.  They don't return her feelings as they are older, but she tries!

Sadie Mae knows sit and stay, and is working on the rest of her commands.  She is also working on not jumping on people when she meets them, and is doing really well with this.  Sadie Mae is very sweet and loves everyone she has met.  She is happy to play with people, but has not yet mastered playing with toys.  We are working on teaching her that feet are not toys!  Silly girl!

7/13/13 -

AABR was contacted to help Sadie because the shelter she was in was full and Sadie was in danger.  She was brought into the shelter by a person who indicated that Sadie's elderly owner could not take care of her any longer. The only information he could tell the shelter was Sadie's name.

Sadie was evaluated and passed her dog tests with flying colors. She is a very sweet girl who even let the volunteer cut her really long nails and give her a bath to try to get some of the tar out of her hair. She just loves being around people and is in need of a foster home! Sadie will be spayed soon and brought up to date on all vet care. If you could help give this sweet girl by giving her a chance, please apply today!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
