Sugar is doing great. She loves to play with her foster brother. She is very gentle with the neighbor kids, who are 1 and 4yrs old. They give her treats when in the yard. She will talk to you when she wants something, like more water or to go out. She would love a home where she can crawl up on the sofa and sleep all day. Sugar would also love to have a brother to play with at home!

Sugar is doing very well. She is housebroken and will let you know when she wants something like food, water, going outside, or just attention. A baby gate is needed for the kitchen if left unattended. Sugar does go into a crate, but will do fine without one. She loves the kids and being with anyone who will sit with her. She especially enjoys sitting on the sofa with her people. Sugar plays well with the boxer boy in the home. She has been spayed and is ready for her forever home!

3/23/13 -

Meet the sweetest, happiest, and friendliest girl, which is why she is named Sugar!  She came to us through a Good Samaritan who found her and kept her safe.  No one claimed Sugar in the community or reported her through the shelter, so she was turned over to rescue! We at AABR are honored to have such a sweet girl in our family!

We traced Sugar to a breeder in Missouri, so she is a puppy mill puppy that we are sure made her way to a pet store and was sold as that cute puppy...now 8 years later, she finds herself wandering the streets.  Sugar was scared, cold, lonely, and homeless!  It's the sad reality that happens daily to dogs and cats sold as babies.

Sugar is currently in a warm home with a loving foster family.  They have 2 sons, a young male Boxer, and a Chihuahua - and Sugar is doing fabulous. She is house trained and crate trained.  Sugar enjoys relaxing in a chair.

Are you looking for that sweet companion dog that you can take anywhere? One that's happy to meet everyone? The dog that will snuggle next to you and just be happy to be with you? The sweet girl who is happy to be with your children or grandchildren? The dog that people look for when you walk into a building? Look no further - we have that dog!! Apply to be the luckiest home and adopt Sugar!!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
