I just wanted to take a minute and catch up with everyone.  I have been in my foster home a little over 6 months.  My foster mom absolutely loves me and gives me many kisses each day.  I love just being me and getting them.  I got to try a small bowl of ice cream for my 6 month anniversary.  It was yummy!

My foster mom has signed me up for a tracking class that starts in December.  She says I am going to get to find hot dogs on the ground.  I am sure there is more to it, but i like what she has told me so far.  She is looking to buy me a coat or sweater, since it will be outside.  I am sure there will be pictures of this taken.

I love being in my foster home.  I get plenty of great food and treats, have many blankets and dog beds to sleep on, and get to snuggle with my foster mom each day.

I also helped to rescue a kitten a few months ago.  I heard it crying under the bushes and showed my foster mom where it was.  She told me I was a good boy!

So, I am just hanging out here waiting for my permanent family.  I hope they find me soon, as I am the "best boxer ever!" (that is what my foster mom says).

Hey all (Y'all since I'm in the southern states these days) .... it's me, just checking in with all of you boxer lovers. My foster mom still says I am THE BEST and the EASIEST. I don't exactly get it, but it gets me lots of kisses, which I love to give back to her. I wiggle for her and she's even heard my "woo" a couple times. That's reserved for my real excitement !!!

I am still a relatively quiet boy, but will bark if I'm outside and there is something mom needs to know about on the other side of the fence. I like to chase birds, but mom says I will never catch one. I met some of the neighbors on my walk last week and they just loved me. I didn't jump or bark. I just wanted to be petted. Their son is afraid of dogs, but I think he really wanted to meet me once I was so well behaved. I can win anyone over with my charm.

My foster mom wants to tell you that I do like the house and air conditioning. It is almost 95 degrees here in Virginia and who wants to be outside???? She leaves the back door open for me when we "work" outside. I'm usually sitting in the doorway when she is looking for me. This way I can stay cool, but still watch her. I really like to be with her and sit next to her. On weekends, I get time with mom and one of my fur brothers, and I just want to explore the house and lay by mom. I am really laid back.

My taste testing food update: I have now tried (and love) flounder, shrimp, Frito's, and any beef or chicken. I even had chicken and duck feet. And, I still don't care for fruit. Mom tried a piece of cantaloupe and I spit it out and let it lay on the floor. Mom did sneak in some pumpkin bread, but I don't count that as fruit or veggie, so I did eat it. Anyhow, that's what's new with me. If you want to know more about me, let AABR know.

 Love, Boss

I just wanted to take a few minutes and update you on what I've been doing this last month. It has been a whirlwind and I've been a busy boy. My foster mom said I've done much better than most of her own dogs. She also said she keep me in a heartbeat, if she could.

My first week at my new foster home was filled with a lot of activity and a lot of new people. My foster mom said we were buying a new house and moving. I met some of her family, the pizza delivery guy (a couple times), some friends, and then a bunch of guys came and packed us all up, including our crates one morning. I just wiggled for them all and gave lots of kisses. A couple of the moving guys said they wanted me and would take turns walking me on a leash and taking pictures of me. My foster mom watched me really closely and said all adoptions had to be "approved". I got to supervise the move from the front seat of the UHaul truck. I loved riding in it. I secretly love to ride in anything. We were so busy that we forgot to get a picture of this.

We next discovered that I was turned into the shelter with 2 eye ulcers, one in each eye. We took care of that right away and I was a really good boy for all the vets, even during my eye procedure. I don't even mind the eye drops that I had to have. Thanks AABR for making me feel so much better.

I am settling into the new house and new yard and enjoying it. I get to stroll around the back yard and enjoy life. My foster mom says she is giving me the job as a "taste tester" in the house. I get to sample a little bit of a lot of foods. She says being a senior boy, you should enjoy life. So far I've had a couple bites of steak, chicken, muffins, cheese, angel food cake, and other stuff. I watch my foster brothers and sisters eat bananas and watermelon, but I just sniff that. Mom just laughs at me and says that's okay.

A couple of my other good traits are that I don't jump on anything or any person. That's probably good because I am a big boy. I really don't bark very much. I am good in a crate and go right in. I probably don't need it, but I have too many foster brothers and sisters to not be in a crate sometimes. I know how to sit. And, I give the best kisses !!!

PS. My birthday is 5/10/04. It was on my paperwork that I got turned in with. A family of my own would be the best present I could get for my birthday !!!

Boss has been neutered and has arrived at his temporary foster home.  They indicate that Boss is an incredibly happy and handsome boy.  He gets along great with the other dogs and absolutely loves the five year old child.  Boss listens well and takes treats gently.  Whoever adopts Boss will be getting a wonderful boxer boy!

3/18/13 -

Boss is a senior boy who was surrendered to the shelter because his owner reported he had allergies to dogs. Boss is a wonderful boy and passed all of his behavior assessments with no problems. He does well with other dogs and really enjoys attention from people. Boss has a very easygoing and gentle disposition. He will be brought up to date on all vet care this week and will then be arriving at his new foster home. Thank you for your interest in Boss!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
