Boxer Mix

2/11/13

Missy is still waiting for her forever home.  She does really well in the crate and is almost completely housebroken.  Missy is very gentle with treats.  If placed with another dog, it should be one that can keep up with Missy's energy level.  Missy needs a fenced yard to run and play in.  She would do best with a cat that stands his/her ground.  Missy can be a little rough with the cat, but they can also be found sleeping together.  Missy has perfected the "Leave it" command - she simply sits and looks up!

Missy has a TON of energy, but when we say it is time to lay down and we put her in the crate, she will cry for just 5 minutes and then sleep for hours.  Missy goes into her crate easily.  Her foster home is very proud of Missy's progress.

Missy is doing great in her foster home. She loves to play with the other dogs. Missy does need a dog, though, that can keep up with her energy level. She has no regard for the size of the other dogs and is very vocal when playing. She loves to wrestle and chase with them! If it were up to Missy, she would play all day. Missy has been curious about the cat, but has not done anything more than occasionally chase him when he takes off running.

Missy is a face licking machine!! She loves to put her neck under your chin and will fall asleep with that comfort. Missy does still need some work with her potty training, but she is a fast learner and really wants to please. She is even starting to run to the door if she needs to go out. When she comes back in, Missy will run over to the treat jar to wait for her reward. At this time, she is up to about four hours before needing a potty break.

Missy is doing well with her crate training. She will protest when initially put in her crate, but then gives up and goes to sleep. She has mastered the sit command and is working on "leave it." Missy absolutely LOVES the five year old child in her foster home. Her foster family indicates that she has been really fun to have their home. Missy really is such a very sweet girl who loves to cuddle and give lots of kisses. She will need a home that is there often enough to continue to work on her training and socialization. If you are interested in this adorable girl, apply today!

Missy did great on her transport over the weekend.  She traveled well in a crate and was very friendly with every person she met.  Included are some new pictures of this adorable puppy!  She will be spayed within the next few days and then will be ready for her forever home!  Missy is looking for a home that has the time to work on her housebreaking, socialization, and training.

1/04/13 -

Missy is a precious boxer mix puppy who loves people and other dogs.  She will be transported tomorrow to our vet's office to be spayed and brought up to date on all vet care.  Missy will then be arriving at her new foster home, where she will be living with two other dogs, a cat, and a five year old child.  We will update Missy's page this weekend with new pictures and information from her transport.  Thank you for your interest in this sweet puppy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
