Trooper is still looking for his forever home.   I went to visit him today to take him for a walk and he was so happy and excited.  We met another dog and they played really well together.   I ran into the owner's neighbor who lets Trooper out mid-day and he said Trooper is the best dog - Trooper thanked him for the compliment with lots of hugs and kisses!  Another volunteer who took Trooper out for the day last week wrote this:

You can't let his size and looks fool you.  Trooper is the biggest love and cuddle bug that we have ever came across. He has the typical young boxer energy, but from our personal experience that's not something a long walk once a day can't cure.  He played fetch with us and even came over to give both of us kisses in the middle of playing fetch. He wasn't shy at all and made himself right at home on the couch with us as we watched a little football. After a little bit of playtime inside the apartment, we took him for a walk. He pulls on the leash quite a bit (I think because he has all this built up energy), but that's something we feel that a little leash training can cure. He LOVES walks. We walked for about 4 miles into the trails behind our pond and half way into the walk, after he was able to release some energy, he walked WITH us and not in front of us.

After our VERY long hike, he came back into the apartment calmly and mellowed out sooo much. He loves attention, though, and just wanted to be on top of us the whole time. I really want to emphasize... HE LOVES KISSING YOU! Trooper is such a great dog and we fell in love with the fella. He is a beautiful looking dog, affectionate, and is just a big dope.  Trooper needs a home with a yard to run around in and someone who is active that will take him for hikes, walks, or runs. He's the sweetest dog and he just wants to spread his love!!! Another bonus, he is a food driven dog so training shall be a cinch. He also knows how to sit when told to!

9/27/12 -

Meet Trooper. He is being surrendered to rescue to find a new home because his owner feels he isn’t getting the attention he deserves. Trooper has lived with two children and is crate-trained. He is neutered and up to date on vet care. Trooper is full of life and looking for a home where he will be a treasured family member. If you are interested in making this wonderful young guy a part of your family, apply now to adopt or foster Trooper.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
