Louie is ready to start his heart worm treatment, but it would be nice if he could do it in his forever home.  He'll need to be kept quiet for a few weeks, but that is a great time to bond and just snuggle while watching tv, or reading a book together.  He would be a great dog for a senior home, as once he is done with his treatments, he enjoys a easy game of fetch, and loves playing with balls.

He is doing fine with the dogs in his foster home, and lived with young children.  He is a very sweet guy.

08/07/12 -

Louie is safe in a foster home now.  He had a full vet exam and he came back positive for HW...  And with infections in both ears... And an elevated Liver enzyme reading.  AaaHHHH!

He is so sweet and just kind of melts in your hands when I was giving him a bit of affection.  We will allow him to acclimate to his foster home before starting heartworm treatment. His x-ray showed that his heart was normal sized so we think it is either stage 1 or 2.

He is friendly with other dogs, but he is been by himself for so long that we will take it slow and easy when introducing him to the other dogs in the foster home.

Louie is a sweet heart and you will fall in love as soon as you meet him.  Please consider Louie for you family.

Intake Reason - Louie is looking for a new home because the family reports that recently one of the children became allergic to him. Louie has been outside using a dog house in the backyard since April.

Louie has been in the same home since he was a puppy and has grown up with the kids. He is very good with them, and loves it when they come out to the backyard with their friends to play. He was very playful and picked up his ball and ran around chasing it. He was an indoor dog for all of his life until now, and had free roam of the house.

He has not lived with other animals, but was very friendly to Duke, a 9yr old male boxer we brought to meet him. The owner also says that he has been trained to "stay" and ignore other dogs that pass by their house when in the front yard. Please consider this friendly guy in need of a new life, and committed home.

Louie is 8yrs old today - Happy Birthday Louie!

Louie needs to be neutered and brought UTD on vaccines, but we desperately need a foster home so he can be inside after his surgery.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
