The link below is for a brief collection of photos and a short video, showing Caleb's progress over the month he has been in his foster home.

See Caleb - AABR Foster - 2/11/12 online.

Caleb has gained ten pounds over the past month and his sores are almost completely healed.  He is a very special boy and we have fallen in love with him.  He would love to have a dog companion and a fenced yard to play in.  Caleb will be neutered soon and ready for his forever home - thank you for your interest in this special boy!  We are so happy to be a part of his journey to his new home.

1/28/12

We have noticed a huge difference in just three weeks and are amazed at Caleb's progress! He is steadily gaining weight and is now acting like your typical, energetic young boxer.  Caleb's bloodwork came back normal and his pressure sores are healing well.  His previous condition was solely from neglect and starvation.

As you can see from the new pictures, he is filling out well.  Caleb is getting along great with all his fur siblings.  He is starting to learn how to box and play with the other dogs.  Caleb is wonderful with the two cats, usually paying them no attention.  He loves his fenced in backyard and would like to have a yard to run in at his new forever home.  Caleb runs into his crate when told or at feeding time, and has no problems being crated when needed.  He does need some work on his leash walking and basic commands, which we will be working with him on.  We are really enjoying fostering Caleb and can't say enough good things about this wonderful boy!

1/14/12

Caleb has been in foster a week now and is settling in well. After spending time with this sweet boy, I can't imagine how anyone could intentionally starve him and not take care of him.  He just loves attention and his nub has been moving nonstop since arriving.  He has no problems at all with the two cats in his foster home.  Caleb is also doing very well with the three other dogs.  He spent the first few days searching for food nonstop, but has now realized that it will be provided every day and will run to his crate when it is time for meals.  Caleb knows some commands, such as sit, and has no problems being crated when left alone.  He is going to be a wonderful addition to a lucky home!

1/7/12 -

Caleb was seized from his owner by animal control for obvious neglect.  He is emaciated and has sores on his legs.  Poor Caleb should never have been allowed to get in this terrible condition.  When his foster mom met him, he still wiggled and just soaked up any attention he was given.  At the vet's office today, he was doing the best boxer lean and giving everyone kisses.  He is now in foster with three other dogs and two cats.  Caleb did great with the introductions and he traveled well in the car.  This sweet boy is just under a year of age.  We will update Caleb's page once we get to know him better.  He will never know anything like the life he led before - Caleb will be a cherished family member from this point on.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
