10/17/11 - Transferred to Camp Papillon Pet Adoption & Rescue

Duke is now being adopted through Camp Papillon Pet Adoption & Rescue.

Please visit their website at the link below to submit an adoption application for Duke!

Duke is in need of a new foster home.  Because he can be particular of his dog friends, the daycare environment is not the most suitable foster home for Duke.  He needs to be around well-socialized and well-adjusted dogs, or as an only dog.  Please offer to foster or adopt Duke so he can get into a home environment!

10/1/11

Duke is doing very well in his new foster home (which doubles as a dog daycare). He is very obedient and wants so badly to please. He is now crate trained and will go into his crate upon command. He loves squeaky toys and is extremely playful and happy go lucky. He is still excitable and wants to jump up and greet you, but now that he attends daycare everyday and gets regular exercise, he is able to focus more on commands and will calm down quickly when he realizes it's what you want. He does well with most other dogs, but he does not like anxious or nervous dogs -- he prefers dogs that are well socialized and friendly. He seems to be completely house-trained; he's not had an accident since he came here. He can't wait to get a home of his own though - he has a lot of love to give. An active owner who wants a playful pup will find their best friend in Duke!

9/8/11

Duke recently celebrated his first birthday!  This young boy is great with other dogs, but should go to a home without cats.  He will be arriving at his new foster home soon and we will update his page once they get to know him better.  Apply today to adopt this handsome boy!

8/20/11

We had the pleasure of spending some time with AABR’s Duke today! Poor Duke is patiently waiting at a boarding kennel for a foster or forever home of his own! Duke is an incredibly sweet, happy go lucky boy. Duke has the young exuberance and eagerness to please that could easily translate into one incredible dog! All Duke needs is some obedience training and old fashioned love and he will be the dog every person dreams of having!

Duke is very outgoing and loves the company of both people and other dogs! It is such a sad thing that because Duke is a boxer mix he is constantly being over looked by people. What Duke might lack in a pedigree, he has double that in his love of life and people! Please, help Duke get out of the kennel and into a home by offering to foster or adopt him! Trust me, if you put in the effort, Duke will return the favor by being your best friend for life!

7/1/11

Duke is in urgent need of a new foster home. He would do best with somebody home the majority of the day. Duke is a young and energetic boy. He is looking for a home that has the time to work on his manners and obedience skills. If you are a match for Duke, apply today to give this young boy a foster or forever home.

6/25/11

I had the pleasure of meeting Duke a few days ago and what a wonderful boy! If you are looking for a dog that is full of life, Duke is your boy. He has endless energy to run and play fetch. He does also enjoy a nice scratch as well. Duke does need some basic manners, but he is a very smart boy and was sitting for me in just a few minutes. Duke will be a great dog for someone looking for an active companion. Get your application in for him today!

6/8/11-

Duke was surrendered to the shelter when the owner's landlord found out he had a dog over 25 lbs.  When the animal control officer picked Duke up to take him to the shelter, he was very friendly and outgoing.  Duke previously lived with seven children, ages 5 and up.  He also lived with a Chihuahua and two cats.  Duke is not crate trained, but he has never been destructive in the house.  He absolutely loves peanut butter stuffed Kongs.  Duke is a great boy and will be going into foster.  We will update his page with better pictures and more information soon!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
