Jerico is doing wonderful at his foster home!  His hair is growing back in quickly and he is looking much better.  We have posted some updated photos.  Jerico is completely housebroken.  When alone, he has even been able to be left with full run of the house for several hours with no problems at all.  Jerico loves everyone he meets and he has enjoyed playing with new dogs also.  He is going to be a great addition to the lucky family that adopts him!

Jerico...well, what can we say about this little guy! He is adorable, and we mean....really adorable. He loves to snuggle, lean against you, or just give kisses!

Jerico has had it a bit rough. He came to AABR as a stray with a very bad case of demodex mange (not contagious and highly treatable). He has been on medication for several weeks and is getting much, much better. With time all of his hair will grow back and he will be more handsome than ever.

Unfortunately we do not have a foster home for Jerico so he is staying at a kennel. One of our volunteers went to visit Jerico recently. He could not have been more loving and friendly. He waited patiently for his bath to be over and then couldn't wait to get outside and run around. He might be part bunny rabbit with all the hopping he was doing, but that might be because he was just grateful to get outside.

Everyone at the kennel indicates that he is loves people.  He gets happy whenever anyone stops by to say "hi". He is quite the charmer.  Jerico will make a great addition to any home. He is a special, special little guy that will fill any home with lots of love. A kennel is not a great environment to get better, so please consider fostering or adopting Jerico. You will not regret it!

Just a brief video of Jerico following his bath last weekend:

Jerico spent some time at our vet's office, but he is now at our kennel and in urgent need of a foster home. The vet confirmed that he has demodex mange and that he is heartworm negative. Jerico's treatment for the mange requires a medicated bath twice a week and daily ivermectin, which the vet just put on top of his food.

Everybody that has interacted with Jerico has commented on what a sweet boy he is. The volunteer that transported him to the kennel today indicated that Jerico is very well mannered. He really needs a home to monitor his skin and help him recover. Please offer to foster Jerico!

4/11/11 -

Jerico was found as a stray in terrible condition. He is suffering from skin lesions and mange. A skin scraping at the vet came back positive for Demodex mange, which is not contagious. He has already been started on treatment for this at the shelter.

Jerico is in urgent need of a foster home that can continue his daily treatment and monitor his progress. The volunteers at the shelter indicate he is very sweet with people and he did well with the other dogs and cats he was tested with. Jerico is up to date with all vaccines and negative for heartworm. He deserves a chance at a loving, forever home. Please open your heart and home to help this young boy in need!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
