Sami is such a sweet girl!!! She is very calm for a boxer and as petite as a little boxer girl can be! She has been great around other dogs and although she is a tad shy around people when she first meets them, she warms up to them very fast. Sami has the most expressive eyes and ears and her personality would fit into almost any family.

Sami has not been exposed to small kids other than the neighbor’s 4 year old twins, but she was a little afraid of them so older kids might be better for her. She listens very well and doesn’t jump on people. Sami has very good manners! She also does very well in a crate and when out of the crate, will follow her foster mom from room to room. Her favorite place is on the dog bed at her foster mom’s feet while her foster mom is on the computer. She is a great snuggler on the sofa too! Her broken leg is healing very nicely and she walks on it with no problems. She is current on her vaccines and is HW negative!! Today, Sami was spayed and she will come back to her foster home tomorrow. She has been a real trooper through her leg surgery and now her spay. Sami deserves that wonderful forever home that will love and adore this very special little girl!

Sami's surgery went well and her prognosis if very positive.  She is now recuperating in a foster home and getting lots of attention.  Sami is very cooperative and tolerant, despite the amount of pain she has been in.  She is currently wearing a pain patch and she is also on oral pain medication.  Sami will need to be on crate rest for the next 6-8 weeks.  Donations are urgently needed to help with Sami and several other boxers in rescue that have needed extensive medical care.  Please help us to be able to continue to save the boxers in need!

2/25/11 -

Sami was found on the side of the road after being hit by a car.  A good Samaritan took her to the emergency hospital, where she was immediately put on an IV for the shock and extreme pain she was in. It was determined that she had a fractured femur, which would require surgery by an orthopedic specialist.  Sami was a very popular girl at the hospital, as everybody fell in love with her sweet personality.

Multiple attempts have been made to find her owner.  She has spent the week in the emergency hospital hoping her family would come for her.  Sami's surgery could not be delayed any longer, so she was signed over to rescue today and is resting comfortably this evening after a successful surgery.

Sami is very fortunate to have a foster home that will be picking her up tomorrow.  She will be going into foster with several other dogs.  Her foster mom visited her at the vet hospital prior to surgery.  She indicates that Sami is a very petite girl at only 43 lbs.  She was wiggling and giving lots of boxer kisses.

Donations to help cover Sami's high medical bill are desperately needed!  If you can help with a tax deductible donation, please submit this through PayPal or by check to help with Sami's care.  Thank you for helping us save Sami - any amount will help and is very appreciated.  Sami will need several follow up appointments as she recovers.  We will update her page and post new pictures once she has settled into her foster home.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: Please see our adoption info by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
