5/28/11 - MEMORIAL

It is with a very heavy heart (and swollen eyes) that I must write this note to all of you.

At 1:00am Wednesday morning, Gracie alerted us that something was wrong. We went to the mudroom and discovered that Mr. Man (formerly known with AABR has Pauly) had had another seizure. We brought him to the couch and stayed with him through the night, but his breathing remained labored. We gave him some medication to calm him, but by 10:30 Wednesday morning it was clear he had taken a turn for the worse.

It is not often an animal lets you know with no uncertainty that it is time....Mr. Man was gracious enough to give us clear signals through the absence of stars singing in his eyes.

We had 5 wonderful months with the old man. Those of you who were blessed to meet and love him, know how dignified and sweet he was, and he will be greatly missed.

2/2011 - Adopted!

2/1/11

When Pauly came into rescue on December 11, 2010 - he weighed only 33 pounds. He now at 49 pounds and is still gaining! Pauly is doing great in his foster home. He sleeps in his crate in the kitchen at night and loves to sleep in until around 8am. Pauly enjoys napping throughout the day, whether on the couch or his dog bed. He is quite happy to nap all day, unless he is offered to go for a ride in the truck, which is one of his favorite things to do! Pauly is quite the gentleman and he loves to give kisses. Although he hasn't been trained to understand basic commands, he tries his best to understand what is asked of him and he likes to please. Pauly walks really well on leash. Every day, he becomes more responsive and involved with his foster family. You can tell he has a big heart and he has developed a twinkle in his eye. Pauly gets along well with our young boxer, although he has a tough time keeping up with her style of play. He would do best in a home where he is the only dog or where he is with an older, easygoing female. Pauly is a lovely companion and has shown a lot of progress in his foster home.

12/20/10 -

Pauly was found near the interstate in terrible condition.  He had been on his own for at least 3 months. The shelter that took him in was considering euthanizing Pauly because they didn't think anybody would want him.  AABR has agreed to take Pauly into rescue to find him a wonderful home.  He is very malnourished and will need some tender, loving care. Pauly is a gentle soul who will be going into his foster home soon. We will update his page once we know more about him.  Please consider sponsoring this sweet senior boy!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
