I am doing well in my foster home. I got spayed and my lump removal on Friday and I feel so much better. I hop around the yard now. I have discovered that I love to be on the couch snuggling-probably my favorite pastime. I went for a walk yesterday and discovered how great it is to be out, but it was comforting to have my fur-foster to follow around. I am depending on him less and less in the house, but still need him when I am out and about. He is confident and I am learning from him everyday. I am also doing a great job with potty training and I am great with food...I am more motivated by love and affection than food...just give me a nice massage or pat on the head. My foster family is able to clean my ears, brush me, and has even taught me to sit (well 50% of the time). I am looking forward to getting my fur-ever home, so I can snuggle with them as often as I would like.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit Ernestine this evening at her foster home. Are you looking for a great dog?? Well, let me tell you, Ernestine is a dream! She is so gentle with her 3 y/o skin-sister; they love to lay together. And she is her fur-foster brother Sampson's shadow; she follows him everywhere. Ernie will be having surgery this week to remove a growth from her leg and after that, she will be ready for her forever home. Are you willing to take this girl in and love her? She will be happy to return your love.

11/10/10 -

Ernestine (Ernie) was surrendered to a shelter from a puppy mill. Her previous owner commented that "he didn't know why anyone would want her - she was good for nothing now that he was done with her." Thankfully, the shelter was able to get her from the puppy mill and contacted rescue for help.

Ernie is estimated to be 5-7 years old. She is very sweet and is already starting to wiggle for people. She has sores on her feet from standing on wire.  Ernie is in need of a foster home so we can get her out of the shelter and into a home environment.  If you can help Ernie, apply today to foster or adopt her!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
