5/24/10

Nilla is now sleeping with us in bed (along with 3 other dogs) and she loves it. She sleeps through the night and if she has to go potty, she gets up and goes to the door. Nilla absolutely loves our dogs and she always is wanting to play with them. She does know, however, when one of them is not in the mood and she will leave them alone. Nilla is a complete love bug who likes to curl up beside us on the sofa (she is allowed on all of the furniture) and give us kisses. We have not had her around children, so we would suggest children over 8 years as she does get excited and likes to “box” so she may knock smaller children over. Nilla is a gorgeous, well behaved little girl who will be a wonderful addition to any home. It would be nice to place her in a home with another dog and a completely fenced yard as she loves to play so much.

4/27/10

Well our little girl has definitely come out of her shell (not that she was ever really in one!) Nilla is playing and loving life. She has mastered sit, paw, down, stay, no, and outside. I have a feeling this little girl can learn anything you want to teach her. She is a total love bug – she can’t wait to give and get hugs and kisses. Nilla loves to play and fetches very nicely. She leads beautifully on leash. Nilla loves her kong toy and knows to flip it with her paw to get the treats inside to fall out. She and our male boxer play “paws” and “kiss” through our doggie gate. She has not been allowed to play with them too much as we’re waiting for her spay incision to heal. Nilla goes to sleep in her crate at night and we hear barely a peep out of her. She goes outside and does her business right away as soon as we let her out of her crate. Nilla loves to be in the same room with you and craves attention. She runs like the wind, so a fenced in yard is a must for this girl! Thank you for your interest in this sweet puppy!

4/19/10 - Update

Nilla is a totally sweet, gentle, well behaved 11 month old girl. She loves affection and has been giving kisses to everyone she meets. She knows sit, paw, down, and no - Nilla is very responsive to all of those commands. We’re working on stay and off and she is progressing nicely. She is truly amazing for a young girl. I can’t get over how well behaved she is for being so young. She also knows to go to the door to go potty! She loves her toys, and will even retrieve them now and then…. Nilla goes to bed at night in her crate and we barely hear a peep out of her till morning. We know from her previous owner that she lived with kids 8 and older, and was great with them. She also likes other dogs. Although we have not allowed her to play with our crew yet, due to just being spayed, she loves to give them kisses through the doggie gate ! and her little nub goes the entire time! She is allowed to roam free in the kitchen when we are in there and has not touched a thing other than the dog toys. She is really a special little girl. Someone is going to be very lucky to be able to adopt Nilla into their family!

4/13/10 -

Nilla and Spice are siblings who were surrendered to rescue due to personal issues in the family. We are hoping to place them separately with a male dog in the home. Nilla is a hearing white female who is 11 months old. She is good with other dogs and more laid back than her sister. She previously lived with three children (8, 11, & 13 yrs old).  We are hoping to find a foster home soon for both of these girls so we can learn more about them. Apply today to foster or adopt Nilla!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
