My name is Atlas but everyone calls me Atty. It’s been a strange couple of months. A few months ago, I was on the streets. I must have lived somewhere but for some reason, I found myself alone. I was taken to a shelter where I was adopted but I started to get real itchy and the vet said it would cost a lot to fix, so they decided I was too much trouble and left me at the shelter again. The shelter staff decided to call Adopt a Boxer. The nice people from AABR came and got me and brought me to my foster house. It turns out that I was itchy because I picked up something while I was on the streets. They gave me medicine and it cleared up and my hair even grew back. My foster mom says now I’m the most handsome boxer ever (I don’t know about that, but I am pretty darn cute!!). So it was rough for a bit but I am a very happy guy now.

I love playing with whoever will play with me, especially the other dogs here. I also love, love, love to play with my doggie toys or a rope or a ball. My foster mom said I was a “ball of energy” when I got here but now that I’ve settled in, I’m pretty much a normal boxer. I like to go for walks on the leash or play in the yard, but I am so happy when I get to cuddle next to someone to take a nap. Sometimes I fall asleep with my tongue sticking out which everyone says is really funny. I love the other dogs in my foster house and I also love to meet new dogs. I’m having a great time with my foster family but I would really, really like to find my forever home. Please consider adopting me. I promise I will be the happiest dog you have ever seen and I will make you laugh every single day.  See my new video below!

What an amazing boxer Atlas is! His skin condition has completely cleared up. He loves to go on walks, run around the yard, chase tennis balls, and be around people. Atlas patiently waits in the crate during the day until his foster parents come home, and then he is sooo happy to run around the yard with them or go for a walk. He is such a handsome boy that people ask about him all the time. Atlas loves to meet other people and when he sees a young person, his little stubby tail starts to wiggle. He just wants to play and is a huge goofball. Atlas is crated trained, housebroken and does fine on the leash. Hopefully he'll find his forever home soon.

Atlas, aka "Atty" is fabulous! He has recovered from the skin condition that he picked up as a stray. He is incredibly sweet and loves to be with his foster family. He loves, loves, loves chasing tennis balls and rope toys (actually most toys). Atty entertains himself by throwing his rope up in the air and catching it. He also has a habit of hopping up like a rabbit on all fours, which is very funny to watch. He is crate trained, house-broken and knows his basic commands. Atty walks great on the leash.

Like most 2 year old boxers, Atty is very energetic and would make a great walking or jogging buddy. He loves kids, but may be a little energetic for small children. Atty would absolutely love to go to a family or individual that has the time and room for a young, handsome, and friendly boxer boy.

3/27/10 -

Atlas is a young male boxer who was found as a stray and is estimated to be around 2-3 yrs old. He is a sweet boy and just loves attention. Atlas was adopted from the shelter, but returned three weeks later due to skin problems.  He is currently being treated for mange.  Atlas knows his basic commands. He is reported to be housetrained and crate trained. Atlas is great with other dogs and with children. He is currently at our vet's office, and will be going to a foster home soon where we can learn more about him.  We will update his page soon.  Thank you for your interest in Atlas!

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
