Barron continues to do great in his foster home. He has turned out to be quite the character. He has a lots of energy for a 5 yr old - Barron must have gotten the energy from the kids he was with.  He loves to play and chase his tail and will back into you for a butt scratch.

Barron is such an easy dog to care for.  We let him out 1st thing in the morning and when he is done with his business, he either can't wait to run right back in the house or if something is distracting him, you just call him and in he comes running in.  He always lets you know he needs something.  The tricky part is figuring out what he wants.  He lets you know when he wants to go outside, when he is hungry, and when he wants to play.  Watch out when you are on the computer or sitting down in a quiet room watching TV.. he sneaks up behind you and lets out a bark that catches one off guard.  We have many people over to play cards or just get together and Barron has always greeted everyone with the same happy attitude.  We are working on him not sneaking up behind a card player and doing the bark, but it has helped me win a few hands by distracting a player.  A butt scratch and a quick hug is usually enough to satisfy him.

Barron is a great little guy and could use someone who can show him lots of love and a calm voice.  He loves to cuddle with you and wants to always be as close as he can to you.

Barron has been in his foster home 3 weeks now and I can report that the original update on him still applies. He gets along just fine with my two Boxer boys, ages 8 and 6. He is crate trained, but still needs a little coaxing at times with some treats.  Barron is house trained and lets you know if he's due for a bathroom break. He walks well on the leash and does know his basic commands.  Barron can be a little headstrong and get a little excited when he plays, so will need a firm leader to follow. That said, Barron does listen very well and is a great little boy. He is your typical boxer that loves to cuddle with you.  Barron will make a great addition to any family. Apply today - Barron will be waiting here for you to welcome him into your family for years of fun and love.

It's rather unusual for us to get a call from a shelter saying they have one of our dogs. It's rarer still when the call comes from a shelter in Georgia. Barron was found wandering on the side of a road outside Atlanta on Saturday night. The home he was adopted to in 2009 had given him away to somebody she did not know instead of returning him to the rescue. Thankfully, he still had his AABR tag on and the shelter notified us right away. Barron will be transported back to the northeast on Thursday and will be going to a foster home with three other boxers. Once his foster home gets to know him better, we will submit an update and new photos.

4/2009 - Adopted!

4/22/09 -

Hi folks - please meet Barron. His family is giving him up because they just don't have the time to give him the exercise and attention he needs.

Barron is 2 1/2 yrs old, house & crate trained, knows all of his basic commands, and is a very energetic, but well behaved young man. He has been living with 3 children under the age of 6, and gets along well with other dogs.

Thank you for your interest in Barron!

2009:

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read our Adoption Procedure, by clicking on the link at the top of this page, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
