Update -I have had Xena for 7 months now. She's really coming along. She's eager to learn and now knows how to sit, shake with one paw and shake with the other, and high five. Xena does very well on a leash and loves to go for walks and car rides. She is a great passenger in the car. She has so much love to give!

Xena has been doing very well the past 4 months. She is a love to have around. She loves to play with toys and loves to play fetch. Xena is in the prime of her life and still has a lot of energy! She enjoys playing with her foster sisters, a smaller dog and a cat. She knows the "sit" command and I'm trying to get her to "shake". When coming in from the wet weather, I'm getting her in the habit of "rub" which consists of me rubbing her paws dry. She stands patiently when getting a bath and loves to get hugs and kisses.

I would prefer Xena not be adopted out to a home with other big dogs. She needs very slow introductions with smaller dogs. She does great around my cat. Xena gets excited when children come to the house to visit.

This little girl is good with smaller dogs and cats!  Take a look at this photo...

I have been fostering Xena for about a month now and her personality has really come out.  She is a sweet girl with a lot of love to give.  She likes to follow you around wherever you go.

Xena gets along with her foster sister, who is a smaller breed of dog.  Xena seems to do well with smaller dogs, and she also is doing well with my cat.  A little curious about her, but doesn't chase after her.

Xena is a sweet girl that just needs some structure in her life.  Won't you please consider adopting this senior girl?

10/04/08 - Xena is now in foster

Update -Xena is a typical female boxer. She gets along well with her brother Foster and would love to stay with him but understands if they must go there separate ways. She just wants a forever home.  Xena is a great companion. Totally house trained, past the puppy play years but still enjoys to run in the yard, chase the tennis ball or go for a leisurely walk. Won't you please consider giving Xena her happily ever after?

8/22/08 - Xena

Xena was brought to our local shelter with her brother Foster after the family she lived with her whole 7 years lost their home. They tried to take them back out of the shelter only to bring them back to their condemned home. A neighbor called authorities and animal control removed them again to the shelter. Xena has not had an easy life. She is 7years old and now in a boarding kennel. She is very sweet and friendly. We will split this pair up if it means getting both into good loving homes faster than adopting them out as a pair. Xena is up to date on shots and spayed. Please consider this sweet girl for your home.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
