BONGO IS STILL WAITING FOR HIS FOREVER FAMILY. WHILE HE WAITS HE IS SHOWING US HOW LOVEABLE HE IS. HE NOW COMES TO ME FOR AFFECTION AND RUBS HIS FACE AGAINST ME. HE IS SUCH A GENTLE DOG AND HAS HIS OWN MIND. ABOUT 15MIN. BEFORE EACH MEAL HE LET'S ME KNOW I SHOULD GET MOVING AND GET HIS FOOD READY. I CUT HIS NAILS FOR THE FIRST TIME AND HE WAS GREAT. ACTUALLY, I SAND ALL MY DOGS NAILS WITH A BLACK & DECKER DREMELL TOOL. INITIALLY, WHEN I PLUG IT IN AND TURN IT ON EVERYONE SCATTERS. WITH A LITTLE COAXING BONGO REALIZED I WASN'T TAKING NO FOR AN ANSWER, AND LAID DOWN AND FELL ASLEEP DURING IT. WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND I KNOW HE WILL MAKE SOMEONE VERY HAPPY. IF THE ACTIVE PUPPY STAGE IS NOT FOR YOU, THIS SENIOR WILL BRING YOU CALM, TRANQUIL, STRESS FREE DAYS OF PEACE. WHATEVER YOU WANT IS FINE WITH HIM BECAUSE HE IS SO EASY TO GET ALONG WITH. HE'S NOT PUSHY IN ANYWAY AND LOVES ALL PEOPLE AND OTHER DOGS. A  HOME WITH KIDS 12 AND OVER WITH OR WITHOUT OTHER DOGS WILL BE FINE. HE DOESN'T NEED A CRATE, JUST A SOFT PILLOW FOR HIS AGING BONES. I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT WHAT AN EASY KEEPER HE IS. EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF SENIORS, AND LET BONGO TOUCH YOUR HEART.

Update - Bongo has been here for 5 wks. and as he becomes more comfortable I see a personality emerging. At first he didn't pay any attention to us or the other dogs. He didn't play either, that is until 2 days ago. Out of the blue he started to do that mouth to mouth playing thing with my male boxer. It was so cute and took me by surprise. It didn't last long because one of Bongo's favorite things to do is sleep, the other two are car rides and eating. As supper approaches he lays in the middle of the kitchen floor, sometimes on his back, and waits till it's ready.

I take him outside and he follows me to the fence or looks towards the car hoping to go for a ride. Bongo has had surgery recently and had 3 small tumors removed. They were all benign, and he didn't seem to be affected by any of it. In fact he laid on the floor and fell asleep waiting to see the Doctor.

He doesn't have to be crated when I'm gone and behaves wonderfully. He doesn't attempt to jump on furniture or beds either. He has such a gentle, laid back manner. We laid our 6 mo. old cat next to him and he just sniffed.

Bongo doesn't require much, except some lovin. So, if your looking for a quiet buddy, who will return that love then Bongo is for you. He has already given me so much.

Bongo may not look like a party dog, but you can sure put a smile on his face if we can find him a great home for the New Year!  He is a great dog looking for a family to love.

He'll brighten your day if you give him half a chance!

12/19/07 -

Bongo is a 9 yr. old neutered brindle male. He is an owner surrender because there is no one to care for him. His owner is leaving for college to become a vet!?!? Besides, he was left alone the majority of the time.

Let me tell you, this poor soul looks sad. He has only been here 2 days and is so quiet I don't know he's here. He let's me know when he has to go out by walking right to the door. He also knows basic commands, sit, and come. He loves car rides, and sleeps the whole way. Bongo gets along with children of all ages, and goes into his crate with no problem.

This boy only requires one thing... a lot of love.  do you have what it takes to let this gentle soul know he's still needed.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
