Rosco is now 8 years old and has been in his foster home for well over a year.  He is still waiting for that special family to come and scoop him up.  Rosco's health remains stable and he is as happy as ever.  Rosco is a very simple, low energy guy who follows basic commands with ease.  A few belly rubs, short walks, and some yummy treats are all it takes to keep an easygoing guy like Rosco happy.  Rosco is such a cool dog - he will not disappoint any adopter!

7/18/13

Rosco is still in his foster home waiting for his forever family to come along. Rosco is loved by all who meet him. We even get visits to our home from friends that just want to stop and see him! His health remains stable. Rosco does not jump on people, he enjoys short walks only, is respectful of his surroundings and loves a good treat or two. Rosco, despite his size, is a lap dog that loves a good belly rub. He loves to give kisses as well as get them. Is Rosco the type of companion you are looking for?

4/27/13

Sweet Rosco has been in his foster home for just about a year now. This good ol' boy is such a fantastic dog, and just loves to snuggle and give kisses. His fur is so soft and he loves to lay on his back for a belly rub. His health has been stable, despite his enlarged heart.

Rosco is a big boxer, but a low energy guy who loves a slow walk.  He does well on the leash. Rosco especially loves to window shop. He likes to look into store fronts, check out all the items on display, and share a smile with the shoppers and workers inside. Rosco respects his surroundings and has never had an accident in the house.  He knows his basic commands and is not crated at all in his foster home. Rosco has been around children of all ages - he is only curious when he approaches and is likely to give kisses.

Rosco has a great personality and deserves to be cared for and loved. Give ol' Rosco a chance and you will be glad that you did!

10/21/12

Rosco has been an excellent dog in his foster home. He remains respectful of his surroundings.  Rosco does not jump up on people and listens well when told.  Sadly, we have found out that Rosco has an enlarged heart due to a deformed tricuspid value that he probably has had since birth. Because of this, the blood backs up into Rosco’s heart, causing his heart to enlarge. This does not take away from the fact that Rosco would make an excellent companion dog. He is a big, sweet, love bug and is loved and enjoyed by all that meet him. Rosco deserves to have a special family that will care for and nurture him. His good nature and friendly disposition will not let you down.

8/14/12

Rosco is still waiting for his forever home! He has lost weight and is down to 76lbs! His hair has grown in nicely and is becoming more and more shiny and full thanks to fish oil and yogurt supplements, as he no longer needs allergy medication. Rosco will make an excellent companion.  He knows all his basic commands, is respectful of his environment and all people - including children of all ages. Rosco has encountered children, including babies, of all ages and only shows curiosity toward them. He loves to be pet and scratched and is gentle with children who want to play with or pet him. Rosco is easily commanded away from people. He will bark at passers-by, but can be commanded to stop and return.

Rosco is a low energy guy who enjoys the couch, snuggling, a little play here and there, and short walks - as he does very well on the leash. He enjoys being with people but does well alone, without a crate in the house. Rosco was only crated when he first entered his foster home, but it was probably never necessary.  Rosco has never had an accident in the home and will let you know when he needs to go out.

Rosco would make a great companion dog to a single person, older person or couple. Rosco is good with other dogs, but would benefit from a low energy buddy. If you are looking for a great companion, Rosco is your dog!! He will not disappoint you as he is mannerly, respectful, and will love you with all of his heart!

5/8/12

Rosco was welcomed into his new foster home on 5/5/12. Rosco is a well behaved and mannerly 6 year old boy. He had been returned to the rescue from a family in Connecticut where he was no longer wanted by his owner’s wife, who never bonded with this precious boy - even after being with him for more than 5 years. Rosco’s owner made the very sad trek to Pennsylvania, where he left him with some goodbyes and some tears. Rosco’s owner said giving him up was the hardest thing he had to do.

Words cannot express how good Rosco has been since arriving at his new foster home. He seemed to really miss his owner because he whimpered softly in the car. After the initial excitement of meeting his new foster sister and family, Rosco sat staring out the window of the door, whimpering and waiting for his owner to come back for him. To help Rosco with his transition, we bombarded him with affection and reassured him that he is a good boy. He was glad to return this with traditional boxer wiggles and kisses.

Rosco is gentle, loves to give kisses, and melts your heart with his beautiful warm chestnut colored eyes that match his soft dark brindle coat and flashy chest. He and his new foster sister get along great and enjoy each other’s company. They run around together in the yard and enjoy a treat or two after play time. Rosco goes for walks on the leash and is happy to walk right alongside his foster daddy without pulling or straying away. Rosco has not had one accident in the house. He respects his new home and does not try to take anything that does not belong to him and has not engaged in any type of counter or table surfing. Rosco is really a low-key kind of guy that just wants to be loved and make his fellow humans happy.

Right now, Rosco is overweight. Unlike most dogs that come into the rescue, we are making efforts to help him lose a little weight through diet and exercise so he can enjoy himself more without tuckering out. Rosco also has a skin condition that was identified as seasonal alopecia, with possible allergies, so we are doing our best to investigate this issue and help to resolve it for him. Rosco’s skin does not seem to bother him as long as he is given regular baths. Rosco is good with other dogs and it has been reported that he is good with cats too. Rosco has not encountered many young children in his foster home, so at this time Rosco is recommended for families with kids over 8 and any change in that status will be updated accordingly.

Rosco deserves to have a good home and a loving family that will welcome him with open arms. After all he’s been through, he just wants to be able to give and receive love from a human that will not desert or replace him again. Are you the right family for Rosco?

4/1/12

Rosco is coming back into rescue after being in his home for the past five years.  He has been living with a 6 year old female boxer and would love to find a home with another low-key buddy to pal around with.  Rosco is reported to have allergies, which have been managed primarily through a good diet.  Rosco is friendly and gets along great with people.  He doesn't realize how strong he can be, so a home with older children may be best.  Rosco just wants to be loved.  If you are looking for a boxer that will love you unconditionally, then look no further - Rosco is your boy!

1/07/07 - Meet Rosco

We went to the kennel today to take Rosco out for a walk and to take some pictures. What a good boy he is. Everyone there wishes that they can take him home. He is such a handsome boy! Mostly all brindle with just a little bit of white.

Rosco came from a very good home who took super good care of him and it shows. Due to a divorce, he was turned over to boxer rescue. He just loves everyone he meets. He seems to be housebroken but he can use some leash training. This boy did not want to get back in that kennel when we brought him back but did so reluctantly when he knew that was what he had to do.

He seems rather sad to be at the kennel. Won't you please open your heart and home to this sweet boy and give him a foster or forever home. He has recently been neutered and is all ready to go!

2007:

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.
