Rocket is a changed man! He is so happy and wiggly now. He looks great and has gained some much needed weight. He still is eating 3 times a day. He is ever so ready for his new forever home. Rocket would do well in a home with female dog to snuggle with. He loves his crate and redecorates and rearranges his blankets so that it is just right for him. He makes the cutest little nest with his blankets then climbs in the middle for a nap. Will you give Rocket the loving home he deserves?

12/1/06 - Rocket

This is such a sad sight. Rocket was seen running loose in the city for over 2 weeks and no one tried to help him until the poor dog was too tired to walk anymore. Poor Rocket was seen going in and out of traffic in the city looking so lost. He was found in the middle of the night crying tied to a fence by a caring student. Rocket's hero, called Adopt A Boxer's 800 number to report the found dog. She told us he was thin but I never thought this thin. His hind (butt) bones have actually come through the skin. Every bone in his sweet body sticks out. He has several puncture wounds over his emaciated body. We will never know what his life was like before we got him but by looking at his poor body his has not had a good life.

Adopt A Boxer Rescue took him in and gave him a warm bubble bath, gave him shots, a physical and had him neutered. When I picked him up from the hospital tonight he could not wait to get into my car. He immediately curled up in a ball and! slept all the way home. Once home he ate a little, drank a little and went to sleep. He is a beautiful sweet boy who is just so scared. He is sleeping quietly in safety for the first time in weeks.

It is dogs like Rocket that need rescue groups the most and times like this when rescue need YOU the most. Please offer to foster this sweetheart and get his health back. Pictures to follow as soon as possible.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
