Jake is still here in Northeast PA waiting patiently for his forever home.  He is a lovely boy with lots of kisses to give his forever family.  His ideal home will be calm and quiet and be able to offer Jake daily exercise, a warm bed for him to sleep in, and patience. He is fine with crates for a few short hours at a time and is especially happy if given a peanut butter-filled kong toy

11/5/06

Jake switched foster homes so that he could have some more time for exercise and a little training. He's a high energy, exuberant boy who loves to be on the go with his people and a home where someone is around  for part of the day for regular walks and play would best suit his needs. Jake has suffered at the hands of someone rough in his past and needs a little time to gain trust, he responds well to people who can remain calm and not get over excited so he would fit in well with people who understand how to behave around dogs and help them relax.
He can be very enthusiastic about toys and food but with a little guidance and rules has learned to be a gentleman and will sit and wait for a ball to be thrown and to eat his food, he gives the gentlest kisses on your chin when asked to sit quietly. Jake is a proud walking, naturally strong willed guy and like many boxers will do best with people who can be a good authority figure for him: calm, confident and consistent. He get's along well with female dogs and as a naturally dominant boy, he may fit better into a home with no other males.
Like many of us humans, Jake has an under active Thyroid and is on two tiny tablets each day to regulate his condition. The medication is very cheap and enables Jake to be a normal boy and have a comfortable life. He loves the wood stove and just melts when you tuck him in at night - he seems very grateful for the extra attention.
If you think that you could be a great pack leader for Jake, there's a wonderful relationship waiting for you with this special boy.

Update - This big boy has so much love to give. I let him have free run of the house alone and he is so good. He is housebroken and doesn't touch anything that isn't his. He loves his toys, boy is he a talker, he plays with his toys and just talks up a storm, he's so funny.

His favorite time of day is going for walks. He walks very well on the leash and listens, loves to run around the yard and get lots of exercise. His eyes are so soft looking when he looks at you it just melts your heart. Jake goes nuts for my 12yr old daughter, he obviously has a big liking for kids. He is a big boy and I think he would do best in a home with older kids that can handle his size. Jake is a great dog that has everything you look for in a male boxer!

Jake was GREAT on his first day at his foster home. He was sooooo happy to run in the back yard. All he wanted to do was run and kiss his foster mom and then run some more.
Jake was given free access to the whole house last night and did not disturb anyone or anything. Jake is going to make a great addition to any family.
Jake also wanted to play with the resident Boxer. She was a little shy but Jake took it all in stride.
Jake's foster mom will tell you more in a few days.

Jake is finally in a foster home. We will update his page in a few days.

Jake is a great guy with a sweet personality.  Unfortunately, he is still at our kennel as we are very short on foster homes.  He loves to go for walks and get company at the kennel.

Please consider fostering or adopting Jake into your home.

5/31/06 - Jake NY

Jake just came from a large shelter. Gail was kind enough to keep Jake till a foster home or permanent home comes Jake's way.  We will post more as soon as we can.  So far he is a sweet dog who did fine on his car trip to freedom.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please first read the information on our Adoption Procedures, then fill out an online application.

Boxers and Applicants are not matched on a first come, first served basis. Not all applications are approved. On average, it takes between a week and 1 month to adopt a Rescue Boxer to an approved applicant, depending on your personal circumstances and flexibility.

Matching Boxers suitable for placement with younger children, other dogs, cats, and special needs, yours and theirs, increases the application review time and adoption time.

And yes, we realize that the Boxer you may have your heart set on, may be adopted before you're approved.   Should your first choices all ready found their forever home, we want you to advise us as to other dogs you are interested in at Adoptions@AdoptABoxerRescue.com .  Or let us suggest a few that we feel will match your home.  That is what we are good at.   And be happy for the ones that have been placed... and know that there are way too many fantastic dogs waiting in their place.

Our non-profit organization is wholly comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing our wonderful Boxers placed in loving, permanent homes and given another chance for a happy life. Our process may seem slow, but if you are patient, we will try to provide you with a devoted, loving companion - a Boxer.

We hope you feel that the right Boxer is worth waiting for.

Adoptions Fee: $300
