10/27/05 - Bert

This is Bert!  This handsome gentleman was found tied to a fence outside the shelter in North Carolina.  Bert was sent directly to the euthanasia row because this poor boy has a skin condition called Demodex mange.  He did not stand a chance and when AABR was on the phone discussing another Boxer the woman said we have one other Boxer but he is going to be killed today.  I could not believe my ears!  He was going to be killed because he has an easily treatable skin problem.  I told the woman to please go stop the procedure because AABR will rescue him.  She was amazed we would take a dog that had this benign condition. Don't be alarmed though, Demodex is not contagious.

After a midnight ride all the way to PA I am happy to say it was totally worth the trip because he is just beautiful.  He is sweet and seems to have no issues.  I have had him on oral medication for a week and his fur is coming back beautifully already.

This is where we need people like you to help us.  If you are on this website and reading the stories about these wonderful animals we know you care.  The next step is to make a paypal donation to help us pay for Bert's treatment!  Please help us help Bert and all the other Boxers that would not ever see the light of day again if it were not for AABR.  We don't just take the easy dogs to rehome!  We take whoever needs us!  As soon as we learn more about this sweetheart we will update this page.  If you donated to Bert's medical bills, THANK YOU!  If you have not yet PLEASE do!  We need you and Bert needs you!
