MEMORIAL - Della
Date: Nov 7, 2005

I have the saddest duty to inform everyone of the death of Darling Della, she was hit by a car and killed instantly, after a day and a half in her forever home.

I can not tell you how many people are heartbroken for the loss of this sweet girl. I was her foster Mom for 2 months, everyone who met her fell in love with her. The tears keep flowing, I miss her so much. She came to me a frightened and sad dog. She didn't know what was expected of her. She was with me a week when I looked at her face and the fear was gone, she began initiating play with Sadie... what joy to see those two things happen on the same day.

Sadie and I taught her so much in those 2 months. She learned to trust again. It was a pleasure to see each step of progress. She got to learn what a toy was and that it was hers to play with, she ate her first McDonalds hamburger, she got to taste steak, she loved Cheese Curls.

I am so thankful for the time I had with her and to have given her these small pleasures. I am heartbroken over this.  Please don't let a new dog out of your sight for at least a week, these dogs will always look for the home they just left, they don't realize this is a new home a place to live forever and be loved. I know Della had a great two months, but she deserved much more.

Will I foster again after this, you bet, the pleasure she gave me, the joy I felt with her progress cannot be denied. If you ever thought of fostering, pls try it. Della will always have a place in my heart, but there are so many more Della's on the web site, pls do it for them and for Darling Della.

We are very sad to report the passing of a boxer that touched our hearts.
